Mindfulness serves as the cornerstone of effective parenting. In this episode of the Where Parents Talk podcast, host Lianne Castelino speaks to Kristen Manieri, a conscious living coach and certified mindfulness teacher, author and mom.
They delve into how this practice can profoundly influence our relationships with our tweens, teens, and young adults.
Manieri shares her journey of self-discovery and highlights the importance of being present in our interactions. She emphasizes that cultivating mindfulness not only enhances our ability to respond thoughtfully rather than reactively but also helps us navigate the emotional complexities of parenting during adolescence.
The conversation explores how simple rituals can create meaningful connections amidst the chaos of family life and how parents can better prepare themselves to tackle tough conversations with their children.

“I guess I got tired of things making sense in hindsight or looking back and thinking I wish I’d said that differently or I wish I done that differently. My life just felt like there was just so many moments of, I guess maybe just regrets, might even be too strong of a word. But just in general, looking back and wishing I had done something 10 minutes ago or 10 days ago, differently. And that just led me to realize I’m just not present, like I’m not yielding, wielding myself. I was just tired of not being kind of in Control of myself, like, not managing myself. And when I started to learn about mindfulness and I realized, oh, that’s how you do it.”
