“…it can be really easy to get behind in math, and you can get behind very early on. I think just there’s been a shift in the way math has taught over the last several years. We saw a pretty big curriculum changes and around 2006, but it’s not just the curriculum. It’s sort of the methods that are being used in schools, the methods that are commonly promoted among people that are math educators that get hired to do professional development, that sort of thing. Not enough focus on making sure that kids have like, really good basic math skills. And kids need a lot of practice to get good at math.”
